Last night President Trump launched his re-election Campaign – but we don’t have the tools we need to win Ohio for him in 2020! Please watch the video to Understand what We are Up Against – and what YOU need to do to Ensure a Trump victory!

We are never going to sell people on allegedly conservative principles that end up making conservatives less free. After all, when we sell conservatism, we are selling freedom, in contrast to the perpetual soul-killing tyranny offered by leftist ideology. So, the idea that conservative principles require us to defer to the growing oppression of the left because it is delivered through the medium of allegedly private corporations is nonsense.
Don’t want none? Don’t start none. That’s one of my conservative principles. The corporations started it, and now it’s our right – our duty – to finish it.
The fussy Bow Tie Boyz of conservatism will tell you that this calls your conservative bona fides into question. Well, question away. If “conservatism” means I have to take guff from some goateed 20-something helming a unicorn start-up who thinks I have way too many rights and way too much privilege because my ancestors came from Stuttgart and I wield a penis, count me out of conservatism. I am utterly indifferent to whether the aspiring dictator who seeks to force me to obey is a government employee or a corporate CEO. Neither is acceptable, meaning I will not accept either.
The Big Tech jerks from Silicon Valley are crusading SJWs with a few billion bucks lying around, and they have decided that their target for domination is us. They created the new public square that is the internet in general and social media in particular (check out Glenn “Instapundit” Reynold’s new book), and now they have realized that when everyone gets a say, some people are going to say things their Bay Area pals dislike. As a result, the Instafacetwittertubes have taken to policing the electronic soapboxes against anyone who might cause tension at a Santa Monica Chardonnay tasting. The Bingyahoogles are busy tipping the search engine scales toward their preferred politicians and perspectives, all leftist with an SJW twist. And companies like Salesforce are deciding what legal products, like guns, you can and can’t sell (and therefore, buy) based on what political ideas are in fashion in Menlo Park.
I don’t remember voting for any of these people to run our country. Do you?
But even as they use their power to undermine our ability to participate in the governance of our own society, we are informed that our True Conservative™ principles foreclose our ability to use our own power (in this case, GOP control of the executive branch and the Senate) to defend ourselves. The reason? Oh, well these are private companies, you see, and they can do what they please to limit your ability to be a fully participating American citizen. You can’t fight back using your most powerful weapon, your dwindling political power, because reasons and because.
You try to hit me with a bottle and I’m hitting you with a bat. The aggressor does not get to cite my ideology to demand that I limit my own ability to effectively defeat him. What would ever possess me to agree to that?
And the idea that the conservative gospel commands that private entities are somehow untouchable is ridiculous. Let’s dispense with this silly idea that it is utterly unconservative to regulate the actions of a private business via a simple question:
Are you cool with companies refusing to let black people sit at a lunch counter? With denying them a Twitter account because they are Jewish? With telling women “Sorry sweetie, this software is for men only?”
Of course not.
But at one time, the idea that the sanctity of property rights gave a private business complete autonomy to discriminate was a “principled conservative position.” But this is not a “principled conservative position” anymore; even National Reviewrepudiated having held it a half century ago. Today, mainstream conservatives reject the notion that the government cannot regulate against discrimination based upon race or religion. And it is well-established in the law that the Constitution gives the Congress the power to enact laws doing so, except where the government violates the religious liberty of the business owner, so put that in your cake and bake it.
The “principle” that we can’t tell a private business who it must do business with is no principle at all. We accept that discrimination can be curbed, leaving only a debate over what kind of discrimination should be curbed.
Ma’am, we have established what you are – now the only question is your price.
So, why not bar political discrimination in social media, internet infrastructure (like search engines) and in business in general? We correctly bar racial discrimination because it is unJudeo-Christian and unAmerican to create a caste of second-class citizens by denying some people the ability to equally participate in society. The political discrimination we see today bars citizens from full participation in society and in their own governance. A citizen who cannot express his ideas is crippled; a citizen who loses a bank account or can’t buy a gun to protect his family because some software maker doesn’t like the idea of peasants having pitchforks is no longer a citizen but a serf. Why should conservatives allow themselves to be morphed into second class citizens? Isn’t our liberty enough of an interest to warrant government protection?
Well, not to the liberals. And not to the GOP establishment types who prefer us uppity Normals sit down, shut up and turn out on Election Day to vote for whatever Jeb!-like loser they put forward to go to DC and represent the Chamber of Commerce.
We keep hearing conservatives throw around the word “statist,” but that’s not the debate-ending trump card they think it is. We are conservatives, not anarchists (like my pal Michael Malice, whose essential book The New Right just dropped). There are things the state should do – like protect the citizenry. It should protect their lives from invaders, their property from criminals and, yes, their right to be full citizens from nefarious tech titans who want everyone between I-5 and I-95 to nod and obey.
The answer is not always state action, but sometimes it is state action.
This is not a call for willy-nilly, poorly thought-through regulation. Anyone who took Poli Sci 101 understands “regulatory capture,” the process by which larger corporations invite regulation knowing they can control the regulators and leverage it to secure their position and bar competition. The idea is not to impose a detailed regulatory regime requiring a legion of easily corrupted micromanaging bureaucrats. Rather, it is to establish simple principles that can be enforced by the wronged parties themselves – much like the racial and sexual anti-discrimination framework we have today.
Enact a few simple laws requiring social media outlets to allow all matter allowed under the First Amendment. Keep the Section 230 protections – the idea that truly neutral forums should not be liable for the actions of individuals using the forum is sound, just now we would require the tech companies to honor the “neutral” part. Also, require all business to not bar their use by legal industries or on the basis of political views. That way, for example, we don’t have gun control that cannot be voted into effect via the people’s representatives being imposed by woke corporations. Nor would people who like Trump have to worry about having their Wells-Fargo bank account closed or not being able to get a Verizon phone.
We don’t need a big new bureaucratic apparatus to enforce these rules. We have lawyers. Discrimination law is mostly enforced by lawyers suing on behalf of people who claim they were wronged. Assign hefty statutory damages amounts to various kinds of discrimination, allow the recovery of punitive damages where appropriate, provide for injunctions against further misconduct (or to restore banned people) and award attorneys fees to successful claimants – this is how we enforce our rights without a huge new federal agency. Let’s let hired gun attorneys clean up Dodge City (and I’ve seen plaintiffs’ lawyers get awarded $600+ per hour, which will even make Mark Zuckerberg take notice).
There is no actual conservative principle that requires us to shrug and accept being ostracized from the basic structure of modern American society for the sin of defying the conventional wisdom of a bunch of Scat Francisco swells. They started this. An essential component of the unwritten deal with big business, part of the reason they could claim to be political non-combatants, was that – at least toward the masses – that’s generally what they were. Your Uniteds and Bayers might work behind the scenes for or against legislation that affected their rice bowl, but they did not mess with our rights. Yet today, you have airlines shunning the NRA and drugmakers boycotting liberal shows all the way up to YouTube denying services to conservatives for expressing conservative views. These are attacks on us, as citizens, and this is both new and unacceptable. They can’t be culture warriors when it suits them and claim to be hors de combat when we prepare to punch back.
They chose to play horsey. This is horsey. Unleash the lawyers to regulate them into submission.
There is an alternative to fighting back, and it’s not a happy alternative for you. It is you being silenced and intimidated by a liberal elite leveraging its corporate allies to force you into submission and obedience. I write about what happens when the left wins in my action-packed yet super-snarky novels about the United States’ split into red and blue countries, People’s Republic, Indian Country and Wildfire. Not surprisingly, liberals and the fussy castaways from the Weekly Standard hailed my novels as “Appalling.” But then, my key conservative principle is “Do whatever it takes to defeat those leftist SOBs who want to take my freedom and money,” so of course they hate my books.

My fellow Patriots,
I am writing to you once again to ask for your aid in a matter of tremendous significance to our nation and to our prosperity agenda. As always, I do not ask for your help unless it is critically important to your Individual Freedom and Liberty. Today is one of those occasions.
You may not be aware of what the left, in the form of the radical prosecutors in New York State, are doing to squeeze Paul Manafort in order to build a criminal case against Donald Trump in state court. As Alan Dershowitz points out, it is clear that a sitting President cannot be charged with a FEDERAL crime while in office, it is not clear that he cannot be charged with a state crime!
I will not explain what the left is trying to do to entrap the President, but Alan Dershowitz spells it all out for you in this important interview with Dennis Prager:
Please click these links and you will see how henious this action to transfer Manafort to solitary confinement in the notorious Rikers Island federal prison in New York City really is:
Now, Alan Dershowitz is telling Trump that he MUST pardon Paul Manafort NOW! By doing so, we accomplish several important goals. First, Manafort gets out of prison TODAY and never goes to Rikers Island where he can be coerced to cooperate. Second, then New York State must bring state charges against Manafort for financial misconduct, which will take months, but most importantly, state law will not allow them to torture Manafort to try and get him to “compose” a crime against Trump to gain his release like they are trying to do now. Third, Trump must pardon Manafort NOW because what they have done to him and are planning to do to him is not who we are as a nation and is a flagrant abuse of our judicial system for purely political reasons!
They broke down the door of his home when he was a cooperating witness, the Mueller team put him in solitary confinement trying to get him to make false charges against Trump, when that did not work, they charged him in New York State, now they are making the unusual step of moving Manafort from a minimum security federal prison to solitary confinement in a New York City Federal Prison for one reason – to get him to implicate the President in a crime. That is NOT our Justice System that is what they do in Third World Dictatorships!
We cannot allow this miscarriage of justice but most of all we cannot allow this “tactic” to entrap our President to be deployed by our enemies!
PLEASE take action today to message the White House and give your support for the President to make this pardon as soon as he returns from Normandy! I cannot express the importance of you and your organizations taking action immediately and I trust that you will do so.

Rob Portman thinks You’re Stupid!
Rob Portman is proving once again this week that he doesn’t “Represent” YOU or me or Ohio! Never has, never will. He is a bought-and-paid-for lackey of the US Chamber of Commerce and he represents them, not YOU, in their globalist efforts to destroy your job and our nation. (Don’t believe me read all about it here.)
Rob Portman thinks that you and I are stupid. He thinks he can just lie to your face and get away with it. While he and the corrupt “Republican Party” are solely responsible for this INVASION of our nation, Rob Portman tries to tell you and me that he rightfully opposes President Trump’s Tariffs on Mexico because it will “hurt Ohio”. In a Columbus Dispatch article today he says that a 5% tariff on Mexico would increase the costs of imports to Ohio by $9.6 billion a year. So, we can’t have that, right Rob, I mean the drugs coming over the border KILLED 4,293 Ohioan in 2017 alone, so the cost of $9.6 billion in increased costs to Ohio’s would not be “worth it” to save THOUSANDS of lives??? Right Mr. “I am going to solve the Opiod Crisis.” I am pretty sure that killing our sons and daughters “Hurts Ohio” more than paying a little more for our damned Avocado’s Rob!
You solve the crisis Rob BY CLOSING THE DAMNED BORDER!!! You solve it Rob by SUPPORTING the President who is the ONLY ONE doing a damn thing to stop this INVASION!!! This Invasion YOU and the corrupt Republican Party created and failed to fix because your masters in the Chamber of Commerce want to drive down our wages and destroy our communities and our society.
Hey Rob, you know what “hurts Ohio” and all American’s? How about the $436 Million in our tax dollars – and borrowed money – that we will have to pay to take care of illegal Immigrants TODAY! Just Today! How about the $116 BILLION it will cost us, not you Rob, not the Chamber of Commerce, but us, THIS YEAR to take care of ILLEGAL immigrants with schooling, housing, food, health care, transportation and everything else.
Speaking of borrowed money, your NON-Representative voted this week AGAINST Rand Paul’s “radical” balanced budget plan that would cut 2% of spending each year. How many real Republicans in Ohio Rob do you think are concerned about the federal government borrowing $1 Trillion dollars every year and we are on the hook for it? You think it might be a majority? Read any polls lately on the topic Rob? Yea, but you voted no, because you don’t “represent” us do you Rob? We can’t cut even 2% of spending because your global corporate buddies love getting that corporate welfare, love the fact that you take care of them Rob so they can take care of you. It’s a beautiful system isn’t it Rob, unless you are an Ohio Citizen!
Normally, I would ask you to call your “Representative” and let him or her know how you feel on an issue. Rob Portman doesn’t give a damn how you feel or what you think. So, just call him up and tell him that you know that he doesn’t represent YOU, and he should stop pretending that he does, and that he should just go to hell! It will not change anything but it will make you feel better for having done it and no one deserves it more than your “NON-Representative” !

Huge Emergency Action – President Trump Announces Escalating Tariff Program for “All Mexican Goods” Until Illegal Central American Migration is Stopped…
Jumpin’ ju-ju bones, President Trump has just announced an emergency tariff program on all Mexican goods that begins on June 10th at 5% and continues to increase monthly until Mexico takes action to halt illegal Central American migration.
Tariff Schedule: ♦5% effective June 10th ♦10% effective July 1st ♦15% effective August 1st ♦20% effective September 1st ♦25% effective October 1st, and continuing therein until Mexico takes action to stop the flow of Central American migrants.
Details from the White House: As everyone knows, the United States of America has been invaded by hundreds of thousands of people coming through Mexico and entering our country illegally.
This sustained influx of illegal aliens has profound consequences on every aspect of our national life—overwhelming our schools, overcrowding our hospitals, draining our welfare system, and causing untold amounts of crime. Gang members, smugglers, human traffickers, and illegal drugs and narcotics of all kinds are pouring across the Southern Border and directly into our communities. Thousands of innocent lives are taken every year as a result of this lawless chaos. It must end NOW!
Mexico’s passive cooperation in allowing this mass incursion constitutes an emergency and extraordinary threat to the national security and economy of the United States. Mexico has very strong immigration laws and could easily halt the illegal flow of migrants, including by returning them to their home countries. Additionally, Mexico could quickly and easily stop illegal aliens from coming through its southern border with Guatemala.
For decades, the United States has suffered the severe and dangerous consequences of illegal immigration. Sadly, Mexico has allowed this situation to go on for many years, growing only worse with the passage of time. From a safety, national security, military, economic, and humanitarian standpoint, we cannot allow this grave disaster to continue.
The current state of affairs is profoundly unfair to the American taxpayer, who bears the extraordinary financial cost imposed by large-scale illegal migration. Even worse is the terrible and preventable loss of human life. Some of the most deadly and vicious gangs on the planet operate just across our border and terrorize innocent communities.
Mexico must step up and help solve this problem. We welcome people who come to the United States legally, but we cannot allow our laws to be broken and our borders to be violated. For years, Mexico has not treated us fairly—but we are now asserting our rights as a sovereign Nation.
To address the emergency at the Southern Border, I am invoking the authorities granted to me by the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Accordingly, starting on June 10, 2019, the United States will impose a 5 percent Tariff on all goods imported from Mexico.
If the illegal migration crisis is alleviated through effective actions taken by Mexico, to be determined in our sole discretion and judgment, the Tariffs will be removed. If the crisis persists, however, the Tariffs will be raised to 10 percent on July 1, 2019.
Similarly, if Mexico still has not taken action to dramatically reduce or eliminate the number of illegal aliens crossing its territory into the United States, Tariffs will be increased to 15 percent on August 1, 2019, to 20 percent on September 1, 2019, and to 25 percent on October 1, 2019. Tariffs will permanently remain at the 25 percent level unless and until Mexico substantially stops the illegal inflow of aliens coming through its territory.
Workers who come to our country through the legal admissions process, including those working on farms, ranches, and in other businesses, will be allowed easy passage.
If Mexico fails to act, Tariffs will remain at the high level, and companies located in Mexico may start moving back to the United States to make their products and goods. Companies that relocate to the United States will not pay the Tariffs or be affected in any way.
Over the years, Mexico has made massive amounts of money in its dealings with the United States, and this includes the tremendous number of jobs leaving our country.
Should Mexico choose not to cooperate on reducing unlawful migration, the sustained imposition of Tariffs will produce a massive return of jobs back to American cities and towns. Remember, our great country has been the “piggy bank” from which everybody wants only to TAKE. The difference is that now we are firmly and forcefully standing up for America’s interests.
We have confidence that Mexico can and will act swiftly to help the United States stop this long-term, dangerous, and deeply unfair problem. The United States has been very good to Mexico for many years. We are now asking that Mexico immediately do its fair share to stop the use of its territory as a conduit for illegal immigration into our country.
The cartels and coyotes are having a greater and greater impact on the Mexican side of our Southern Border. This is a dire threat that must be decisively eliminated. Billions of dollars are made, and countless lives are ruined, by these ruthless and merciless criminal organizations. Mexico must bring law and order to its side of the border.
Democrats in Congress are fully aware of this horrible situation and yet refuse to help in any way, shape, or form. This is a total dereliction of duty. The migrant crisis is a calamity that must now be solved—and can easily be solved—in Congress. Our broken asylum laws, court system, catch-and-release, visa lottery, chain migration, and many other loopholes can all be promptly corrected. When that happens, the measures being announced today can be more readily reduced or removed.
The United States is a great country that can no longer be exploited due to its foolish and irresponsible immigration laws. For the sake of our people, and for the sake of our future, these horrendous laws must be changed now.
At the same time, Mexico cannot allow hundreds of thousands of people to pour over its land and into our country—violating the sovereign territory of the United States. If Mexico does not take decisive measures, it will come at a significant price.
We therefore look forward to, and appreciate, the swift and effective actions that we hope Mexico will immediately install.
As President of the United States, my highest duty is the defense of the country and its citizens. A nation without borders is not a nation at all. I will not stand by and allow our sovereignty to be eroded, our laws to be trampled, or our borders to be disrespected anymore.
On June 10th, the United States will impose a 5% Tariff on all goods coming into our Country from Mexico, until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP. The Tariff will gradually increase until the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied,..
I can’t stop laughing when I think about BMW and the German ‘splodey heads.
German automaker BMW invested $2 billion in Mexico (plant recently finished) as part of a prior plan/strategy to utilize the NAFTA loophole and gain access to the U.S. market. They are building cars there. Can you imagine how much a BMW will cost with another 25% added to the price of the finished product. LOL…
Hell, the Germans might end up being the South Mexico border patrol.
As soldiers place flags on the graves at Arlington National Cemetery this week, those of us in the Ohio TEA Party Movement will spend this Memorial Day remembering all those who died over the history of our nation defending our Freedoms and our Constitutional Republic. While we can never repay the debt that we owe these men and women and their families, today we will honor their sacrifice and thank them for all that this great nation has given to all of us, and for the prosperity and freedom that they and our nation has given to billions of people around the globe!

USDA staffers quit en masse as Trump administration eyes moving offices out of DC
I have long believed that President Trump should make a campaign pledge for his 2020 Re-Election campaign that would REALLY “Drain the Swamp”. That pledge would be to move nearly ALL Federal Agencies out of DC! I was overjoyed to see the article below reporting that the Trump Administration is attempting to move the US Department of Agriculture out of DC.
Just as you and I would hope, the story says “staffers quit en-masse” because of the move and I say the more the better! Why are we taxpayers paying ridiculous Washington, DC inflated salaries to these bureaucrats most of whom we don’t even need? It’s because the DC swamp is all about growing and concentrating ITS power within OUR government not to serve us, but to rule over us! The only agencies that should remain in DC are the military and perhaps the intelligence agencies. Every other agency, the Education, FBI, Treasury,Labor, DOJ, HUD, etc. all need to be dispersed into our great country so they are “forced” to live among us, and actually become us, and get paid salaries like we get paid. These agencies should all be staffed by real Americans not just privileged elitists who have never worked in the real world and yet think they have a right to tell us how to live!
Department Head Sonny Perdue said “We will be placing important USDA resources closer to many stakeholders, most of whom live and work far from Washington, D.C. We will be saving money for the taxpayers and improving our ability to retain more employees in the long run.” I love how the Union Rep says “This move does not serve a public purpose”! Translations: This move doesn’t serve the union’s purpose. No wonder “Democrats are racing to block the move.”
I say, Mr. President, make the goal of your second term in office to move as many federal agencies out of Washington as possible. That pledge will get you the votes of millions of Americans who are sick and tired of sending trillions of our tax dollars out of our communities and states and into Washington, DC to fund and be wasted by the very people who despise us!
We the People Convention
Federal employees at the Economic Research Service (ERS) and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) – two small but important agencies within the USDA – are unhappy with Perdue’s plan to move the majority of their staff from their current offices within the capital to an area closer the country’s agricultural centers. Racism has measurably decreased during President Trump’s time in the Oval Office, reports the Spectator.
Daniel J. Hopkins and Samantha Washington, two University of Pennsylvania sociologists, have been conducting a running study that measures the racial attitudes of 2,500 randomly selected Americans since 2008.
In their most recent report, the academics admit they expected to see an increase in racist opinions among the group, stating, “Normalization of prejudice or opinion leadership both lead us to expect that expressed prejudice may have increased in this period, especially among Republicans or Trump supporters.”
What they found is a decrease in racism under Trump:
Americans, claim Hopkins and Washington, have actually become less inclined to express racist opinions since Donald Trump was elected. Anti-black prejudice, they found, declined by a statistically-insignificant degree between 2012 and 2016, when Trump was elected. But then after 2016 it took a sharp dive that was statistically significant. Moreover, contrary to their expectations, the fall was as evident among Republican voters as it was among Democrats. There was also a general fall in anti-Hispanic prejudice, too, although this was more evident among Democrat voters.
As you can guess by their preconceived notions about which way the study would go and the absurd belief there has been a “normalization of prejudice” under Trump, the two sociologists conducting the study are not running around in Make America Great Again hats. But the obvious difference between racial attitudes under Trump and under Obama is that Trump is nowhere near as racially divisive as Barry was.
The only way the media have been able to smear Trump as a racist is through lies and deliberate misquotes. The Charlottesville Hoax is a perfect example, as is Jake Tapper’s serial lie about Trump mocking a reporter’s disability, as is Jim Acosta’s latest lie about Trump smearing all migrants…
But no one had to misquote Obama’s rhetoric against the police on every single racially charged issue, his relentless attacks on Republicans as racist, his role (and CNN’s) in exacerbating the racial tensions that resulted in race riots in Ferguson and Baltimore, or his supporters’ relentless attacks on everyday Americans as racist…
Trump, on the other hand, has offered only a unifying message about race and against racism. Despite the media’s lies, he condemns white supremacism, including after Charlottesville, and his focus on improving the lives of black and Hispanic Americans have resulted in record low unemployment for both groups.
Under Obama, racial tensions were always at a boil.
Under Trump, racial tensions (outside of the lies screamed in the news media) have settled down considerably.
Over the last two years, not only have blacks and Hispanics watched their economic conditions improve in ways Obama never seemed to care about, unlike any Republican over the last 30 years, Trump is actively reaching out and asking for the black vote. He is also willing to earn that vote through his economic policies, criminal justice reform (which Obama talk-talk-talked about for years, while Trump signed it into law), and immigration policies that restrict the illegal and cheap labor that disproportionately hurts working-class incomes and, by extension, black and Hispanic Americans.
Out in the real world, the world where CNN, Twitter, and the Washington Post have no moral authority, it should come as no surprise that Americans of all stripes are living together with a lot less tension than we had under the Community Organizer raised in Rev. Wright’s racist church as he palled around with domestic terrorists and Louis Farrakhan.
As far as the lies about increased hate crimes under Trump, that is just more fake news from a fake news media who only know how to report fake news. The way in which the crimes are now counted has changed (1,000 additional agencies are reporting them), most hate crimes are eventually debunked as left-wing hoaxes, and if you want to see what real hate crimes look like, here is a list of hate crimes against Trump supporters the media do not want you to know about.
After 18 years of Bush’s stupid wars and Obama’s managed decline and race-baiting, Trump has delivered an era of actual peace and prosperity, which trickles down into the way Americans views and interact.
If you turn away from the fake news media and their fake crises, you will see that life right now is about as good as it can get in this country, and as you can see from this study, that includes racial relations.
Because I live in the real world, other than the fact that there are still some honest people in academia willing to report an inconvenient truth, this study did not surprise me at all.
Did Email Providers Suppress Republicans in the 2018 Election?
Is the world of email biased against conservatives? Many partisans often mutter such an accusation against Silicon Valley. Yet, few digital professionals take the time to investigate whether such a bold claim is true.
Poor email deliverability doesn’t just suppress a candidate’s message, it decreases the engagement of campaign supporters. That means fewer donations, fewer volunteers, and fewer advocates. If Republicans underperform in email deliverability, they face a disadvantage on Election Day.
So we decided to test the rumors. Our team created email addresses with different email providers and signed up for the email lists of around fifty different candidates, committees, and political nonprofits. In the month leading up to the election, we tracked how many emails were sent from each entity, and what percentage of those emails made it into our inbox. To keep it consistent, we opened every email, every day – regardless of where it was placed.*
Republicans Were Sent to Spam Far More Often Than Democrats
The results were striking, across every email provider.
To put these numbers in perspective, let’s examine two closely contested Senate races.
In Nevada, Democrat Jacky Rosen averaged over 90% placement in inboxes, compared to Dean Heller’s over 90% placement in spam.
In Florida, 100% of Republican Rick Scott’s emails went to spam in Yahoo, while 100% of Bill Nelson’s emails went to our Yahoo inbox.
While these were the most dramatic examples, this pattern emerged in every toss-up Senate race we tracked.
What Factors Might Play into Email Deliverability?
One might ask: well, were these conservatives spamming their supporters? Across the five toss-up Senate races we tracked, Democrats sent over four times the quantity of emails than their Republican opponents. Only one Senate candidate used a double opt-in, and it was a Republican: Kevin Cramer, who performed the best among the Republicans.
Making it into inboxes, however, takes more than sending the right amount of email. Email deliverability is a complex animal. List quality, content quality, knowledge of best practices, proper verifications – all of these factors feed into whether an email goes into the spam folder.
To be sure, some accusations of “bias” against conservatives on digital platforms can be attributed to a lack of digital sophistication. But these findings are consistent across multiple entities serviced by multiple professional firms. The answer to this disparity might be structural bias, bad strategy, or some blend of both. Regardless of the reason, it is clear that Republicans need to find this answer to remain competitive in email marketing.
Email marketing is a critical part of your digital strategy. At IMGE, we invest in the tools and tactics needed to run an effective campaign. Contact IMGE to learn more about how we make sure your email campaigns hit inboxes – not the spam folder.
Fine print for the nerds:
Our method for conducting this study was simple. First, we selected candidates from top party targets due to seat vulnerability. We leaned on Roll Call’s 10 Vulnerable House Members and Senators for candidate selection, and then added in party leadership and party committees. We added in three organizations from each side of the political aisle, as well as three non-partisan organizations, to round out our study. The full list can be found here.
Then we created four email addresses (Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, and Outlook) and signed up for their email lists. Most lists required an email and zip code, so we signed up with our Virginia office zip code so that we would be put on the national lists for all candidates.
To ensure consistency, we opened every single email in the inbox and spam folders, but we did not click on anything within the emails. We checked each inbox on a daily basis like most users would so that it would be as organic as possible. This study ran from October 4-November 6.
We tracked the following in spreadsheets:
1. Date we received the email
2. Sending URL/domain
3. Sender name
4. Sender email
5. Inbox placement (Inbox or Spam/Junk)
